La ciudad de Iquitos se encuentra en la selva norte, al oriente del país. Es la capital del departamento de Loreto, que con casi el 30 % de territorio nacional es la región más amplia y septentrional del Perú. Iquitos se encuentra situado en la región nor- oriental del Perú, en la denominada Hoya amazónica, por la cual discurren caudalosos ríos. Su relieve está formado por la gran llanura, amazónica que se encuentra tupida por una gran vegetación.
